About BankStatementMate

BankStatementMate is a bank statement converter that turns PDF, PNG and JPG statements into Excel or CSV files with five transaction columns: Date, Description, Debit, Credit and Balance. It is meant for people who would otherwise retype transactions from a PDF into a spreadsheet, for filtering, adding notes, reconciliation or preparing a reviewed table for someone else. Processing runs in the browser, so statement files are never uploaded.

A user chooses a statement, optionally selects the PDF pages that hold transactions, and picks Excel or CSV. Digital PDFs are read through local text extraction, while scanned PDFs and images go through on-device OCR, which needs a one-time download on first use. A preview shows the extracted rows so dates, amounts and balances can be compared with the original before the file is downloaded.

The converter flags running-balance mismatches and stops the export when columns are missing or ambiguous rather than guessing. Repeated transactions in labelled detail sections can be matched so they are not exported twice. Excel output writes amounts as numeric cells on a Transactions sheet, and CSV output carries the same columns as plain text. BankStatementMate does not categorize spending, connect to bank accounts or give accounting advice.

The converter is tuned for English tables with separate Date, Description, Debit, Credit and Balance headings, and files are limited to 10 MB and 5 PDF pages. It does not produce QBO or OFX files and does not read password-protected PDFs. A verified account gets one free successful conversion; paid options are a $17.90 page pack of 19 pages, a $35.90 monthly plan with 200 pages, and a $109.90 yearly plan with 400 pages per month.

Frequently asked questions

Does my statement leave my device?
No. BankStatementMate reads the file in the browser with local PDF extraction and OCR; the account stores only email, page allowance and conversion status.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Clear English scans with readable transaction columns can be processed with local OCR; unclear text or unsupported layouts need manual review.
Can I convert a statement from any bank?
Not yet. A single signed Amount column, unfamiliar date layouts or wrapped descriptions may be rejected.
What are the file limits?
10 MB per file and five PDF pages, on the free conversion and on paid plans.
Is it a paid service?
A verified account gets one free successful conversion without payment details; paid plans add pages for the same formats.
Can I combine several statements?
The interface processes one file at a time; outputs can be combined afterwards in a spreadsheet.
