Who we are
AI Orion (theaiorion.com) is a directory of AI tools with a few free utilities alongside it. It is operated by Think, based in Wyoming, United States. For anything in this policy, write to info@theaiorion.com.
If you only browse
You can read every listing, category and article without an account. While you do:
- Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors. We see totals, such as how many people read a page, not who they were.
- Clicks to a tool's website ("Visit" buttons) pass through our own link so we can count the visitors we send each tool. For each click we record the tool, the page you clicked from, your country (worked out by our host from your IP address; the IP address itself is not stored), your browser's user-agent string, and whether the click looks like it came from a bot.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
- Our hosting provider processes the technical details every website request carries, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the page and keep the service secure.
If you create an account
- With email and password: your name, email address and password. The password is stored only as a secure one-way hash, never as the password itself. We email you to verify the address and, if you ask, to reset the password.
- With Google: your name, email address and profile picture, as Google shares them when you sign in.
- Cookies: signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in, plus a few short-lived security cookies the sign-in process needs (protection against forged requests, and the page to return you to). They are needed for the account to work, and they are the only cookies the site sets.
- Reviews you post are public, shown with your name. Tools you submit are stored with your account so we can review them and tell you the outcome.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is kept by our newsletter provider, MailerLite, and used only to send the newsletter. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Our free tools
- YouTube Video Summarizer: the video link you enter is used to fetch the video's details from YouTube and its transcript, and the transcript is sent to OpenAI to write the summary. We do not save the video, the transcript or the summary. Please don't summarise videos you have no right to use.
- Resume Builder: your CV is saved in your own browser and the PDF is made on your device. We never receive it. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it.
- Orion Tools (PDF, image and text utilities): the files you open are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to us.
Who processes data for us
We use these providers to run the site. Each handles only what its job needs:
- Vercel: hosting and the page-view analytics described above
- Supabase: the database holding accounts, reviews, submissions and click counts
- Sanity: the content system for our articles (no visitor data)
- Google: sign-in with Google, and the YouTube data the summarizer reads
- OpenAI: writing video summaries
- MailerLite: the newsletter
- Our email provider: account emails such as verification and password reset
These providers may process data outside your country. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site shows no advertising today and sets no advertising cookies. If we add ads, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set. Some links to tools may be affiliate links that earn us a commission if you sign up. That never changes which tools we list or what we say about them.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Reviews and submissions: while your account exists, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
- Click records: kept to count visits over time. They hold no IP address and no account details.
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority. Write to info@theaiorion.com from the address on your account; we reply within 30 days.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to the database is limited to the site itself. No system is perfectly secure, so if you find a problem, please tell us.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
