Ambigram Generator

Ambigram Generator is a free online tool that turns a word, a name or two names into a rotational ambigram: a design that reads the same when turned upside down. It is made for people planning tattoos, logos, personal signatures, couple designs, gifts and profile art. There is no sign-up, no queue and no watermark, and the finished design downloads as a PNG file.

The generator uses letter-pair mapping, the same approach hand-lettering artists use. It matches each letter of the word to its rotated counterpart and draws a single shape that reads both ways, rather than simply rotating ordinary text. The first letter becomes the last when rotated, the second becomes the second-to-last, and so on, which is why two names must have the same number of letters.

A user types a single word of up to 20 characters, or two names, picks a style and checks the preview rotated 180 degrees before downloading. Gothic and Tattoo styles have bold strokes that hold up on skin, Modern and Minimal suit logos and clean designs, and Cursive and Calligraphy are also offered. Design tips cover case, length, style changes, initials and letter compatibility, and explain that R, K, G and Y have no clean flipped form.

Ambigram Generator is free and supported by advertising; no account is needed and the PNG carries no watermark. The tool also describes mirror ambigrams, which read the same when reflected, and perceptual-shift designs, which read as one word upright and another when rotated, and notes that some names are hard to make work.
