Shadow

Shadow is an AI meeting assistant for Mac that captures what is said and shown in every call without joining as a bot. It starts and stops with calls on its own, saving each meeting as Markdown on the user’s Mac for Obsidian and AI agents. Between calls, a shortcut can activate voice typing, quick replies, and more, helping integrate meeting data into workflows.

Shadow creates a local knowledge base from meetings, with each call and participant linked. Data remains on the device and can be opened as an Obsidian vault, synced with cloud services, or searched with Spotlight. The system emphasizes local-first processing and control over files and outputs.

The tool supports actions that run after calls, such as turning transcripts into notes, emails, or code, and it provides skills that can be edited or created by the user. It operates in the background, starts automatically with meetings, and ends when the call ends, offering hands-free use while preserving ownership of the content.

Shadow provides documentation on setup, permissions, and privacy, detailing how to connect calendars, adjust shortcuts, and manage local Markdown vaults. It explains how to move Shadow to new devices and how to handle common issues, all with a focus on local storage and user control.
