MenuGuide is a menu translator app for iPhone, iPad and Android. It lets users take a photo of a restaurant menu and see every dish translated into their language, with a photo, ingredients, allergen and diet flags, calories and the price in their currency. The original dish name stays under the translation, and the app can show or read the order aloud in the waiter’s language.
Dishes have real photos sourced from the web, not necessarily taken at the restaurant, so the appearance may differ. The app uses AI estimates for allergens and calories, and stores the user’s saved menus on the device.
Users can build an order by adding dishes, show the order in the menu’s language, share it or hear it spoken, and saved menus stay in History on the phone.
The app notes that there is no offline translation; a live internet connection is required for translating a new menu, while saved menus remain accessible in History. It also provides a built-in sample Italian menu for try-before-you-scan purposes, and translates into 49 languages.
