Mazelingo

Mazelingo is a web reader that helps Japanese speakers practise English by mixing English sentences into Japanese text they choose. The user pastes an article, blog post or note, and some sentences come back in English while the rest stay in Japanese, so the surrounding context helps the reader follow along. Other modes pair English text with Japanese help and Traditional Chinese with Japanese.

After signing in with Google, the user pastes text into the web reader, picks an English difficulty of Easy or Standard and an English share from 0 to 100% in 10% steps, then generates the mixed reading. The Easy level uses more familiar vocabulary and shorter sentence structures while keeping the original meaning. Pasted text is sent to an external translation service to produce the English version.

Tapping an English sentence shows the original Japanese, and tapping again switches it back. The English share can be changed during reading without regenerating the text, and a reshuffle option picks a different set of sentences to show in English. Font size, line spacing, display width and theme are adjustable, recent texts stay in the device history, and sample texts on travel, work and news need no account.

The Free plan allows one session a day of up to 5,000 characters with Google sign-in. Pro costs ¥980 a month or ¥7,800 a year including tax, removes the daily limit, accepts up to 20,000 characters at once and allows 1,200,000 characters a month. The interface comes in Japanese, English and Traditional Chinese, and the privacy policy states that pasted text and translations are not used to train AI models.
