About Free Claude Code

Free Claude Code, abbreviated FCC, is an independent open-source project that lets a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, VS Code Chat, or other supported harnesses run on a different model provider instead of only that harness's default one. It is for developers who want to use Claude Code or similar coding tools with free, discounted, or self-hosted models rather than paying full price per provider.

A user installs FCC with a one-line script for macOS, Linux, or Windows, starts the FCC server, and configures a model provider in the Admin UI by adding an API key or connecting an OAuth account. The chosen coding agent is then launched through an FCC command, such as fcc-claude or fcc-codex, which routes its requests to the selected provider and model while preserving native streaming, tool use, and interleaved thinking.

FCC supports 12 coding harnesses, including Claude Code, Codex, Pi, OpenCode, Cline, Hermes, and Aider, and 61 model providers ranging from free and paid APIs to local servers such as LM Studio, llama.cpp, and Ollama. It includes reliability features such as automatic retries, configurable rate limits and concurrency control, automatic model or provider fallback, and automatic multi-API-key fallback, and it offers per-tier model routing for Claude Code's Fable, Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models.

FCC can be used from the terminal, desktop apps including Codex App, Claude Desktop, and DeepSeek Desktop, IDE extensions for VS Code and JetBrains, a phone through Discord or Telegram, or a browser through native Code sessions, and voice notes are supported on Discord and Telegram using local Whisper or NVIDIA NIM. The project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic, and free-tier availability and limits are controlled by each model provider and may change.
