CineUltra

CineUltra is a video player for Apple Vision Pro from developer Zijie Zhang that uses AI to convert 2D video to 3D in real time and to enhance playback. It is built for Vision Pro owners who want to watch films, 3D movies and VR videos in an immersive cinema setting, drawing on media servers, network shares or cloud storage. CineUltra received a 2024 Apple Editor's Choice.

The app plays video inside an immersive theater mode and can turn any ordinary 2D video into 3D while it plays. Files reach CineUltra through a media library that supports Plex and Emby, through network protocols such as SMB, WebDAV and FTP, or by direct playback from cloud services including Dropbox, 115 Drive, Baidu Drive, Aliyun Drive and MEGA. DLNA support lets streaming media be cast to the screen.

CineUltra plays HSBS 3D movies, Blu-ray 3D and MV-HEVC video, with HDR10 and Dolby Vision color. It handles 360-degree panoramic and 180-degree 3D VR videos in HSBS, FSBS, equirectangular and fisheye formats, including viewing in passthrough mode. Supported containers and codecs range from MKV, MP4 and MOV to WEBM, AVI, BDMV and BD-ISO. The interface is available in English and 9 more languages.

CineUltra is free to download with a 3-day unlimited trial. Paid options are Monthly at $4.99, Annually at $24.99 and Lifetime at $79.99, plus a separate VR Space purchase at $4.99; some purchases can be shared through Family Sharing. The app runs only on Apple Vision and requires visionOS 2.0 or later. Its privacy label lists usage data and diagnostics that are not linked to the user's identity.
