BabelShark combines automatic AI translation with human proofreading and correction, so a site can be made multilingual in a few minutes and then refined. BabelShark runs as a JavaScript snippet of 128kb (44kb gzipped). The owner creates a project, pastes the snippet into the HTML code and adds a special CSS class to the strings that should be translated. Each string is sent for automatic translation only once and stored in a database, where the owner or the team can review and edit it; an edited translation then reaches every visitor.

BabelShark supports more than 170 languages and six working modes, from translating everything live to gathering strings without translating them. An online editor and an AI proofreader handle review, and a glossary manages the translation of key terms. Brand names, company titles and user names stay untranslated. Visitor language statistics show which languages visitors use and choose, and reverse translation helps check the work of proofreaders.
