Athelas

Athelas is an AI platform for healthcare practices that combines an ambient AI scribe, revenue cycle management (RCM), an electronic health record called Air, and voice agents. It is built for clinics ranging from large hospital systems to specialized outpatient practices, including physical therapy, orthopedics, podiatry, cardiology, urology, gastroenterology, family medicine and ambulatory surgical centers, and aims to automate documentation, billing, scheduling, messaging and clinical operations.

Athelas RCM runs as a managed service covering eligibility, claim submission, reconciliation, denial management and collections. During onboarding, Athelas processes a practice's historical 835 and 837 files and encodes its billing logic into a rules engine that scrubs every claim before submission. Hydra, a self-learning LLM system, handles RCM workflows and learns from the billing team and payer feedback, while portal scrapers pull remittances from payer portals automatically.

The ambient AI scribe listens during visits, transcribes across more than 60 languages and drafts a SOAP note with coding suggestions, including CPT codes suggested in real time. AI compliance checks score each note out of 100 against payer requirements. Athelas also generates appeals with large language models, validates eligibility before submission, and offers voice agents that handle scheduling, call routing and outbound reminders, including an AI voice agent named Julia for patient collections.

For physical therapy, Athelas tracks Medicare Part B Plans of Care and required progress notes, and builds home exercise programs from more than 2,000 images supplied through The Prehab Guys. Patient payments cover cards via Stripe, checks, cash, ACH, payment plans through Affirm and SmartPay reminders. Athelas integrates with a clinic's EHR, uses role-based access control, and is sold through demo requests; AI appeal generation works for supported payers.
