AI Transcription is a speech-to-text app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that runs the Whisper model on the device itself, so audio never leaves it. It transcribes audio and video files, system audio, podcasts and YouTube content, takes dictation, records meetings and generates subtitles. It is made for people who record meetings, interviews or lectures, for language learners and researchers working with foreign-language sources, and for video makers who need captions.

The user records audio in the app or imports a file, and AI Transcription produces a transcript locally, without an internet connection. Speaker diarization identifies the different voices in a recording and labels them in the transcript, so meeting and interview notes show who said what. Dictation mode turns spoken words into notes, emails, messages and documents. Recorded meetings from Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams can be transcribed and turned into automated meeting notes.

For video, AI Transcription generates captions in common video formats and can embed the subtitles in the video or export SRT, LRC and WebVTT files for Final Cut, YouTube or TikTok. An SRT editor imports, edits and merges subtitle files and helps spot spelling mistakes. Audio tools reduce ambient noise and trim blank sections. Transcripts can be translated into over 90 languages, searched, and scrubbed of sensitive details such as phone numbers, names and addresses.

AI Transcription is free to download with in-app purchases: yearly subscriptions at $19.99 and $9.99, monthly subscriptions at $6.99 and $1.49, and a one-time purchase at $24.99. It requires iOS 17.0, iPadOS 17.0 or macOS 14.0 or later and also runs on Apple Vision. The developer states that no data is collected from the app. The interface is available in English and 20 other languages, including Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
