Whispr

Whispr is a privacy-first messaging app where your wallet is your account. It enables chat one-to-one or in groups, sharing photos, video and files that only the people in the conversation can open, and sending a payment without leaving the thread. The app emphasizes privacy by default and avoids traditional sign-in methods like email or passwords, instead using wallet-based authentication and a gasless model.

Whispr operates on smart contracts on Base, allowing conversations to be read and written without a central server. Users connect any wallet or sign in with email to create an account, then activate their address to establish a private inbox. A relayer handles sending messages so users pay no gas.

The tool supports one-to-one and group conversations, media sharing with file size limits, and the ability to attach ETH or USDC to messages. It features live message arrivals, search by address or message, and batch sending to multiple recipients with a single signature.

Whispr is designed to work with wallet-based identities, providing private messages, media, and payments all within the same chat thread. It uses Base smart contracts for messages, media, and payments, without hosting messages on a central server. The network handles signatures, relaying, and gas coverage through dedicated contracts.
