Terse

Terse, listed on the App Store as "Terse: Essense of web articles" and previously as Ask & Summarize, is an AI app from MaaDoTaa for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It produces summaries of web articles and answers questions typed or spoken by the user. It sits in the Utilities category and is meant for readers who want the gist of an article without reading all of it.

Terse summarizes an article in two ways: inside the app, or from a web browser by tapping the share button and choosing the Terse icon, which passes the article to the app. For questions, the user types a question or asks through Siri and the AI returns an answer. No log-in is needed, and the developer states that it does not collect any data from the app.

Besides article summaries and answers to questions on iPhone and iPad, Terse brings its AI to the Apple Watch so it can be used on the go. The app is available in English and carries a 4+ age rating. It supports Family Sharing, so some in-app purchases and subscriptions may be shared with a family group when that setting is enabled.

Terse is free to download, but a subscription is needed to unlock all features: $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year, each with a free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The app requires iOS 16.2 or later on iPhone, iPadOS 16.2 on iPad and watchOS 9.2 on Apple Watch.
