Pointer is an AI writing assistant embedded in Google Docs that collaborates with users inside the document. It places native AI suggestions into the Google Docs workflow, so edits feel like incoming changes from a colleague. The tool supports multiple languages and uses Claude to assist with writing tasks within the familiar Google Docs interface.

Pointer operates by first letting a user describe the desired edit in plain English in the Pointer bar at the bottom of the document, then generates precise edits and presents them as Google Docs Suggestions. It relies on context from the current document to tailor changes and preserves formatting.

Users can review each suggestion with an explanation and accept or reject changes one by one, or accept all changes at once, keeping the document’s structure intact and the editing process collaborative.
