MealSnap is an iPhone food tracker from SimpliXio Pte. Ltd. that reads a meal photo and logs what is in it. Instead of searching a database and entering portions by hand, the user snaps the meal and the app identifies the food, drink or dish and records its nutritional profile. It is aimed at people who care about the quality of their nutrition rather than calories alone, including those following keto, vegan or carnivore diets.
After a one-time model download, meal-photo analysis runs on the device and can work offline; the download continues in the background and recovers after a lost connection, with progress shown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. Nutrition and portion results are estimates that can always be edited. MealSnap then uses the user's history to surface cautious eating patterns, showing the reasoning behind each insight.
Each logged meal gets a NOVA food processing classification, a personalised nutrition score rating its nutritional quality, a macronutrient breakdown of protein, carbs and fats, and hidden calorie detection that counts cooking oils and preparation methods. Micronutrients and other health metrics are included in the analysis. Graphs and trends show progress over time, and personalised health reports draw on the user's actual eating patterns to suggest changes to their diet.
MealSnap is free to use, and access to its advanced AI features requires a subscription bought through Apple In-App Purchase. The subscriptions are listed under the Foodie name: USD 1.99 weekly, USD 6.99 monthly or USD 59.99 yearly. The app requires iOS 15.0 or later, runs on Macs with an Apple M1 chip under macOS 12.0 and on visionOS 1.0, and supports VoiceOver, Voice Control, Larger Text and Dark Interface.
