Deep Code

Deep Code is a professional AI coding assistant built around DeepSeek models, delivered as both a command-line tool and a VS Code extension. It is aimed at individual developers who want an assistant that can read, write, edit and execute code directly in the terminal rather than only producing suggestions in a chat window.

The assistant is built for DeepSeek-V4, with deep thinking, a 1M-token ultra-long context window, and priority, stable access to DeepSeek's models without a proxy. A tool-driven workflow lets it read, write, edit and execute commands inside the same session, and persistent sessions keep that context across a full coding task.

Setup involves creating a settings file at ~/.deepcode/settings.json with the model, base URL and API key, after which Deep Code runs with reasoning features enabled. It supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) to connect external services such as GitHub, browsers and databases, and a fine-grained permission system lets a user confirm or deny shell, file and network operations before they run.

A paid tier, Deep Code Plus, is built for individual developers doing long-term, high-frequency text and code work, and extends the assistant with image understanding, image generation and video generation. The CLI and VS Code extension share the same configuration file, so a user can switch between the terminal and the editor without reconfiguring.
