About Autosubbed

Autosubbed is an online tool that adds burnt-in subtitles to video files. A user uploads a video and gets back a new file with permanent, styled captions embedded in the frames, with no editing software, manual syncing or separate subtitle track. It is aimed at content creators and YouTubers, educators and course creators, marketers and social media teams, and businesses that produce training videos, demos and webinar recordings.

Autosubbed runs a three-stage pipeline in the cloud. It extracts the audio track and sends it to OpenAI Whisper, which returns a timestamped transcript. The transcript is turned into an SRT file with short, segmented lines and timings. FFmpeg then renders the subtitles onto the video frames using libass, producing a single output file. Jobs run asynchronously, so a user can close the tab and return later for the finished file.

Autosubbed supports over 50 languages and detects the spoken language automatically, including videos where speakers switch languages mid-clip. Before processing, users choose font family, weight, size, text color and positioning to match a brand style. Accepted formats are MP4 and MOV, with files up to 500 MB per upload. On paid plans the raw SRT file can be downloaded alongside the finished video for separate upload or manual correction.

Autosubbed offers a free trial with one free video and no credit card, plus three monthly plans: Starter at $5/mo for 60 minutes, Pro at $9/mo for 200 minutes and Business at $18/mo for 600 minutes, with priority processing on Pro and Business. Annual billing includes 2 months free. Trial accounts cannot download the standalone SRT file, and uploaded files are stored temporarily in Cloudflare R2 and deleted after processing.
