Anuma

Multiplayer AI for real life.

About Anuma

Anuma is a social app for meeting people nearby in person. Its approach, called multiplayer AI, means that rather than one person talking to a chatbot, Anuma learns what a user is into, shows people nearby who share those interests on a map, and joins group chats to help everyone make plans. It is for making friends, finding communities, activities, events and professional connections, and is not a dating app.

Anuma builds a profile that keeps learning from the memories a user adds, memories imported from other places, and chats with Anuma. Nearby is opt-in: turning on location sharing enters public mode and places the user on the map, where locations are rounded to about a kilometre. Only public memories and public-mode chats are used to find people and to explain why two people would get along; anything marked private is excluded from matching and profiles.

Each profile on the Nearby map shows a vibe check, shared interests and a short note on why the two people might get along. Users can ask Anuma for someone nearby who wants to grab coffee or go for a run, message people in Nearby, see meetups and who is attending, or host a last-minute meetup on the map. Mentioning @Anuma in a group chat lets it answer questions, find people, sync calendars, book a table and plan the meetup.

Anuma is available on iOS and Android and is free to start, with no paid visibility, Roses, Super Likes or premium badges. Nearby launched first in New York City and opens one neighbourhood at a time; people outside NYC can join a waitlist and invite friends to move up the line. Private mode removes a user from the map at any time. Chats with Anuma are encrypted in transit and at rest but not end-to-end encrypted.
