3D Scan Pro

3D Scan Pro is an iPhone app that converts everyday physical objects into 3D models. It is made by App ahead GmbH, a German software studio run by a single developer, Martin Lexow. The app is aimed at people who want to keep digital copies of objects they care about, share scans with family and friends, or produce models for 3D printing and other uses outside the app.

3D Scan Pro uses the LiDAR sensor on iPhone 12 Pro and newer Pro models together with photogrammetry. The camera captures multiple images of an object, and computer vision algorithms compute a 3D model from them. All processing happens on the device: the app works entirely offline, with no internet connection needed to scan, process or store models, and images and models stay on the iPhone.

Finished scans can be viewed in augmented reality to look at the object from every angle, and shared so that friends and family can explore the model in 3D or AR. Models export as videos, image sequences, or USDZ, STL, OBJ, PLY and ABC files, which allows use in other software or for 3D printing. Some objects, such as reflective, transparent or very thin items, are difficult to scan.

3D Scan Pro is free to download with in-app purchases: a Monthly Subscription at $3.99 and a Yearly Subscription at $9.99. It runs only on iPhone and requires iOS 17.6 or later plus a LiDAR-equipped Pro model. The app is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish, and supports accessibility features such as larger text, a dark interface and reduced motion.
